Fall Festivities: Field of Screams

Fall Festivities: Field of Screams

The horror attraction Field of Screams is now open for the fall season!

From now until Nov. 12, people can enjoy four attractions as well as three escape rooms and terrifying carnival games. All of their attractions have been amped up for new scares and extra layers of fear. This year, Field of Screams is proud to have Haunted Hayride, Den of Darkness, Frightmare Asylum and the Nocturnal Wasteland.

The Haunted Hayride will pull you through a 20-minute ride through a thick cornfield and into a slaughter house where a den of butchers are ready to make you their next meal. Your ride isn’t over though, as you then stumble upon a secret lab full of mutants. The mad scientists will set their new experiments on you. You’ll run into a country home that loves to mix moonshine with guns. Try to escape the fire and make it safely back to your car.

The Den of Darkness calls home to one of the original barns on site. The barn has been transformed from a farmhouse into a hotel and a mansion, each iteration having their own tragic and mysterious histories. You’ll have to traverse dark and narrow passages to make your way out of the barn. Don’t worry about the ghosts, though. They’re only there to keep you in and follow them to your own demise.

Frightmare Asylum houses the most severe cases in the country. Unfortunately, the hospital closed down a hundred years ago. The patients, doctors and nurses are the only ones who will call this building home. Walk through to see the horrific practices of the past and present. They always love to have new experiments come through.

If these attractions weren’t enough for you, the Nocturnal Wasteland forces you to walk through an abandoned forest full of monsters and scenes. The monsters will track you down until you’re sure to never return. In one section you will get a bird’s eye view of the forest below and see other victims meet their fate.

Wanna take a break from the scares? Field of Screams has three five-minute escape rooms that have their own levels of intensity. In one, one of your group is locked in a cage and you have to free them before you can break out. Another forces the group to split up into jail cells and work together to free each other. In the last one, try to steal the priceless artwork and create a fortune. There’s also a bunch of horror-themed carnival games to pass the time away.

If you want more intense scares, Field of Screams is hosting an extreme blackout event on Nov. 12. All four attractions will be darker, scarier and more hands-on as they bring out all the tricks to heighten your experience. Also, Field of Screams will be open for Christmas (Dec. 11), Valentine’s Day (Feb. 12)  in May for Halfway to Halloween (May 14) and Friday the 13th (May 13).

Field of Screams asks guests to pay for tickets online as they often sell out. You do have to pick a time slot to allow more guests to attend. They also encourage you to carpool to help with parking. On their website, they give you a list of dates they expect to be the busiest. Each attraction will cost $16 during the season. However, if you want to do more than one attraction, it’s $30 for two, $33 for three and $35 for a Scream Pass, which gives you access to all four attractions. The prices for the Scream Pass do increase depending on when you want to go. I suggest going early for the cheapest option. Also, if you’re looking to save money, go to McDonald’s just off campus as they have coupons for Field of Screams.
